 Happy holidays!

We hope you all have a great holiday season with your loved ones. As some of you may already know, as of July 1, 2022 my wife Debbie and I (Carlos) took over the tax office. We are excited to continue with Tony and Barbara’s legacy. Although Tony and Barbara are in Washington, they will continue to mentor us and provide guidance when needed. Going forward, Tony will not be in the office. With that in mind, our goal is to provide the same quality of service Tony and Barbara did and satisfy all your income tax needs.

As we get ready for this upcoming tax season, we wanted to remind everyone to start gathering all your tax documents to prepare for your appointment. This tax season we will open the tax office Monday through Saturday, and two Sundays a month. We do this to meet all our clients’ needs. As a reminder, every client needs to book an appointment by calling in, emailing us or online.

Lameece will Pre-schedule appointments for most of her clients; if you do not get pre-scheduled Debbie is available by phone Monday- Friday 9am-5 pm to schedule appointments.

Update

If you haven’t heard, the IRS has hired several new agents. There is a likelihood IRS audits will increase. Clients with small businesses and rental properties have a higher likelihood of being audited. We want to remind everyone the importance of proper documentation and record keeping for all your business deductions. Please continue to keep a vehicle mileage log for all your business needs. A good way to document any non-cash charitable donations is by taking pictures of the items.

We tell you all this because unlike criminal law where we are innocent until proven guilty, with the IRS we are guilty until proven innocent. Having all your documents in line and available during an audit will help the audit be an open and shut case.

Fees

One last note about our fee schedule for the 2023 tax season. Last tax season we raised our fees to cover some of the additional costs that came up annually. The fees for this year will remain the same for short form fillings at $150, and long form fillings at $300. In addition to this fee, we will add $50 for each additional schedule (ex. Schedule C (business), Schedule E (Rental properties, Schedule D, etc.) For our corporate filling clients, the base fee will be $450, with possible additional fees, dependent on each individual situation.

We value you as a person and as a client and appreciate you valuing us and our time as well! Thank you again for your continued support and we look forward to a wonderful 2023!

See you soon!

Sincerely,

Carlos & Debbie Silva and Lameece Stock
